To Many Experts on Everything With No Reference To Back It Up
How is it possible that in the year 2014, we have so many social media websites with all of these titles? Since I have become more active using Twitter, it’s kind of amusing to see all of the self-proclaimed social media experts, entrepreneurs and “Serial Entrepreneur” who are usually about 20 years old. Everyone has a “stick”. That’s an old saying from the past referring to people having a method of operation or just a sales pitch.
I guess if most others are full of bull, then it seems acceptable to do the same. After gaining a little more experience about Twitter, I now look at profiles when someone follows me. If they are the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel and a “SERIAL ENTREPRENEUR” I do not follow back. I have also found not to follow nutritional supplement companies or most any mid size retail operation, unless it is something I am really interested in. Seems like I get hit with a message to buy a product and follow them on Facebook. Have some sense you selfish users, if you ask someone to like their page, then tell them you will reciprocate. As soon as I receive a message to like a Facebook page without a reciprocation offer, I unfollow them.
Between Facebook and Twitter, people have been able to become legends in their own minds, with no real resume. I still question how much business people actually do on these sites. I do believe they are great for putting a presence out there, but as far as direct sales, not much. But that is just my observation. Yet I know no one that has really sold much product or service from either social site.
Then last but not least, we have the large smiling Overweight Face with a big smile that sells an opportunity, oh man it’s time to run. Promoting the best health and wellness products along with weight loss. I guess they figure people are so stupid that the obvious fact that they are overweight, is overlooked and everyone will buy their BS. Then they will show you the former professional athlete that endorses the product. Most successful professional athletes beyond playing their sport have never worked a real job in their life; so endorsing a product for money without having to go to work is a perfect fit for them. Having a former professional athlete means nothing to me; Multi Level Marketing products are all about the money made from everyone you sign up. These companies do not specialize in nutrition, they specialize in the Con. They go after retired people who look for extra money by selling way overpriced products to their friends and people who gave up looking for a job after being fired or laid off in this lousy economy.
I now have figured out who the MLM people are and stop following them. I don’t mind speaking what is on my mind. For me speaking the truth is more important than putting a BS sales pitch out there. When people work with me, whether it is personal training, martial arts or web design, they know I can be trusted to follow through and do what I say I will.
Practice what you preach, tell the truth and make sacrifices. There is no easy road.
